HDH Group Research

Editorial team

HDH Group Research is the research unit of HDH Group. We examine how German corporations are structured, who runs them and how they are formed, grow and exit.

What we publish

We publish reports on individual questions concerning the German Mittelstand and, for each report, a news item summarising its main findings. The basis is the complete population of registered corporations with their registered office in Germany, which HDH Group maintains itself and continuously updates. Calculations use neither samples nor surveys.

Principles

Every figure is traceable. Every report states its reference date, its population, its definitions and the limits of its interpretation. Shares based on fewer than thirty cases are withheld, so that no statement depends on a handful of companies and no individual company becomes identifiable.

We describe companies. Our publications name no individuals and assess no individual enterprises. Only parent companies are named, insofar as they contractually bind a larger number of companies.

We separate findings from interpretation. What was measured is in the figures; where we suspect causes, we say so. We describe associations between characteristics as associations.

We correct openly. If a figure turns out to be wrong, we correct it and note the correction with its date at the end of the page concerned.

Independence

The reports are produced from our own resources and without commission from third parties. HDH Group supplies businesses with lists of companies that can be refined by occasion, industry and region; this activity influences neither the selection nor the results of the studies.

Use

All results may be used freely provided the source is acknowledged. The recommended citation is given at the end of every report. For editorial teams, we prepare analyses to their own definition on request, for instance for individual federal states, districts or industries.
